Tweedhill

The fishing at Tweedhill can provide an enthralling day throughout the season particularly in low water conditions. The spring fish run to early May, followed by runs of grilse and sea trout throughout the summer. The autumn run brings the larger fish of 16-30lbs.

There are twenty four named pools for four rods over this stretch of river and knowledgeable ghillies to show you where to cast your fly. Ally Shrimp and Waddingtons are popular, as are a number of original flies supplied by Tweedside Tackle at Kelso.

Tweedhill has experienced two of its best seasons in recent times. In 2010 there was a total catch return of 371 salmon with over 260 of these in August and September. The 2011 season has seen new records set on the beat with a spring return producing more fish than the 5 year average for the whole season. The beat recorded 126 salmon by the end of June, with a number estimated to weigh in excess of 20 lb.

Fishing is from both a ghillied boat and wading, with the bank side path well maintained.
